An image from 2007, newly processed. Was feeling a bit nostalgic this week so spent a little time revisiting some of my previous images.
In the seven years since I initially made this image my skills with shooting and with processing have increased considerably. I have scores of images that I can look back on now and see instantly how differently I would have processed and shot them. So which is better, never to look back on the less skilled work we’ve done in the past, or occasionally return there and see how far we’ve come?
This something to be said for reflection in my opinion. Seeing how far you’ve come can keep both keep you humble and be a motivation to achieve even great skill.
And on occasion you can breathe new life into the past.
