The number of opportunities to get out in nature in Washington State is pretty staggering. These trails are near what is known as the Ape Caves, the third longest lava tube in North America, a forestry site open to the public. Traversing an underground lava tube is a unique experience and the forest trails surrounding the area offer amazing views.

An excellent way to spend a day.

I’m fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph a wide range of natural settings in the Pacific Northwest. I haven’t always taken advantage of that but this summer I’m making up for some of that neglect.
